As much hype has been given to Quick Escape, not sure how I feel about, ”about the old days of green grass, sky and red wine, should have known so fragile.”
They should have dropped the album with the tour announcement. Why are we waiting?

love reading these reviews. Sparks the memory. Surprised retrograde was only a standout to one reviewer. I thought that would be universal. But I also thought SBWM would be universal. It was the frenetic energy of that song that made me love it on first listen. When I finally heard it again I thought...ok. It’s not as good as I remembered. But the more I played it the more that magic showed itself. Love the song. Especially how eddie sings the word “eyyyyeess.” But everyone’s tastes are different. I hate cilantro. Others love it. Buckle up was cilantro to me. Someone compared it to lowlight...one of my fav songs...if you’re expecting a lowlight please don’t. But I hope it grows on me. I hated cant deny me at first and look at me now. I got a tramp stamp of the artwork.
Seems that Quick Escape is a big favorite based on the reviews. I remember liking it and remembering the chorus had a lot of HEYY HEYY HEYYs. Could picture eddie raising his arm to the crowd ala Alive live. It will be a setlist staple. (I always think of janes addiction Mountain Song when i think of quick escape btw. Slightly similar. It’s a big crashing song.)
As far as sirens like anthemic choruses... 7 o’clock and Retrograde had them. But I remember thinking they weren’t taken to their full potential. I think they are only sung twice in each song. Retrograde especially... I remember thinking come on hit me again with that chorus and it never happened. It turned into something else. But I’m sure I’ll appreciate that with more listens.
And one review mentioned take the long way has a good chorus. I remember thinking that too.
The album does lean on the poppy side though folks. So keep that in mind.
Oh. And the lack of love Who Ever Said is getting is surprising. The crowd erupted after that song finished. No other song on the album got that reaction.
Can’t wait til these start arriving in the mail. Exciting times.

The article is by Jessica Letkeman, who used to write at Spin and Billboard, so I don’t think it’s based off that. She said the website is connected to the Ultimate Classic Rock site that did a review.

Good stuff Kid, Its so difficult to remember anything about a song with just one listen. Takes at least 3 times to get actually embedded into memory.
