You’ll be dismayed or unsurprised to hear the rest of it is bog standard stodgy bland Pearl Jam fare.
Can you write a line about each song? Perhaps compare it to another Pearl Jam song?

It doesn’t deserve that much thought. It sounds like what it is.
A bunch of left overs from previous efforts. Made more noticeable by the one possibly two tracks that were written and collaborated on recently. They shine a harsh cold light on the rest.

Depressing. Some are gonna love it. Our actual regular posters here I can’t see being happy for long with it at all.
Hopefully the tourists will fuck back off where they came from by then tho.
That was a depressing review. What did you think of River Cross? I know you've always been a fan.

Do you think it's worse than Lightning Bolt?

A negative review without even hearing it and naysaying “tourists” visiting a near dormant forum for a band going 30 years and a near 7 year wait for this album?

Weak sauce Dime.

The band rebooted in 2006 after RA took that immense creative wave to its natural conclusion. Sure, LB was running on fumes but the back end of PJ has merit. Lots of the golden era hasn’t gone the distance either.

Why come on here to poison the excitement of a new album with nothing to back it up with? It’s so miserable. Have you ever been to see them live? I was hating on them too until I saw them in 2018 and I remembered what they are about. All the shit of over analysing them just washed away and it was excellent. It was my wife’s first time seeing them too and they won her over, she is adamant we see them the next time they are in town. Another New fan nearly 30 years in.

Anyway, really looking forward to Gigaton and glad there are some people on here that share that enthusiasm.

Dime loves Backspacer, Into The Wild and Ed live though.

Fair enough on those fronts, Ed live seems like a more comfortable fit for him even if he relies on the PJ catalogue as he does.
I think Backspacer is great and rank it the best of their output since 2006.

I do not get a negative review now without anything to back up the bottom line perspective.
And this can be an extension of LB and be a good album. The two singles show that they learn to liven up the production

I would have absolutely no problem with a very pop-centric album full of standard Pearl Jam songs. My problem with Lightning Bolt is not that it's not adventurous but subpar songwriting and production/production choices.

So question to dime: Are you disappointed because the songs are BAD or because they're not as unique as DOTC?

Beautifully illustrating the point that the main reason most people don’t like Pearl Jam is Pearl Jam fans.

This topic suddenly turned from a happy party of discussing reviews to a negative thread all because a guy that claims to be Ed and Glen best friend and we don't even know if he actually heard the album (well, I don't know if he answered about that later cause he is in my block list).

I'm a tourist, so he won't care bout my opinion, but guys how does it all makes sense?? :haha:

Dime either listened to the album or he didn't, and then he either liked it or he didn't. What's the big deal? Why should that affect you? Move on.

Also, tourists, please stick around, we need new blood, hey have you heard of a subforum called Garbage Dump

There are clearly some insecure people here who obviously feel a degree of ownership over this place due to what they perceive as time invested, and don't want others here....
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…
