"I talked to a Warriors player who told me, 'Listen, Gordon Hayward is not Gordon Hayward right now. He's hurting them. He's a liability on both ends of the court.'"

Gee, who could have seen this coming?

I really do not like him but he’s a solid player

No way the Pelicans trade him in season, right?

They need to focus on getting the best offer, whenever that may be. What's the benefit of having lame duck AD around through the end of what is looking more and more like a lottery season?

It depends heavily on what they want back in a trade. If they want the Celtics assets, they must wait. If they are interested in other offers, they should do it now. They have their pick this year I think so there's incentive to trade him and tank a bit.

What do the Celtics even have that is so great? Brown Tatum and Rozier all look worse than last season and the Kings pick isn't top of the lottery like they expected.

Tatum is still really good and only 20. He's regressed some, but I think that is more a testament to his role than his actual ability level. They have the Grizzlies pick either this year or next year too.

I think the Celtics could put together a better package than the Lakers but unless Kyrie is part of it they can't do it until the offseason. I pray that doesn't happen, though.

Ainge should absolutely consider trading Kyrie btw if it looks like the Pelicans might move AD now. Hopefully Ainge acts like he's untouchable and doesn't do anything and misses out.

Probably nobody has more bad contracts than the Heat. Maybe we can trade a few role players with a couple of delusional superstar-in-their-own-mind-only guys on awful contracts for a generational talent like AD.

But would he re sign in Miami? AD on Miami is not really any better than his situation in New Orleans, although Miami is already a decent free agent destination and would be even better with a top 5 talent.

Oh I was being 1,000% sarcastic. Miami could agree to let NO do whatever they wanted and Miami would accept it sight unseen and there still wouldn't be enough to get AD.

Yeah they really can't. He'd have to make a flat refusal to play anywhere else to get that to happen and even then it might not.

I still don't see the Pelicans trading him right now. It's a week until the deadline. If they wait until the summer his value doesn't decline and then they could at least know exactly what top picks they might be trading him for as opposed to lottery value nonsense that may or may not work out for them. And the Celtics become players. And maybe more teams sense a pending weakening of the Warriors dynasty.

The Pelicans should wait if a bunch of picks are involved, yes.

This draft sucks though. It's so bad that since I know the Bulls would never get lucky enough to land Zion I'm talking myself into being excited about Ja Morant.
