Burt lives in a place where that's just Tuesday.

Sorry Burt but you know this.

Heh. Everyone assumes that a 9 o'clock speech by Trump won't happen until 9:10. At that point, he was done. :P

Maybe that’s why he stormed out of this afternoon’s meeting in a huff.

He vows to veto any temporary funding measures that come without forward movement on the wall.

If he doesn’t try an emergency declaration, then we have better than even odds that this becomes the longest ever shutdown, and holds the title for many decades.

Pelosi's dig re: federal workers not getting their paychecks was awesome. "The president seems insensitive to that. He seems to think they can ask their fathers for money."

the republican senate is to blame for not impeaching this unfit asswipe

wonder if they start rooting for mueller a some point in order to make the removal of their own president seem like an act of patriotism rather than political suicide

because at a point a protracted shutdown seems potentially more damaging to them than impeachment

The reveal in Manaforts court papers is the fuse being lit.
Think we’re about to see all and sundry distance themselves whatever way they can from Trump. Republican voters need to ask GOP why did it take so long and why it took that to happen for them to move.

that's not going to be good for the 'Trump Slump'

https://www.nationalreview.com/2019/01/ ... nd-rating/
Fitch, the credit-ratings agency, can be a bit of a scold, but its analysts are not wrong to detect something amiss in American governance, nor are they wrong in their current mild skepticism regarding the U.S. government’s coveted triple-A bond rating. “If this shutdown continues to March 1 and the debt ceiling becomes a problem several months later, we may need to start thinking about the policy framework, the inability to pass a budget, and whether all of that is consistent with triple-A,” James McCormack, Fitch’s sovereign-ratings boss, told Reuters. From Fitch’s point of view, he said, the debt-ceiling issue is the more troubling.

Fucking Mitch McConnell. As if his legacy of terrible wasn't already secure.

If the dems can keep the ball moving down the field it’s a wide open goal.
He’s all alone now and has no backup. I hope they don’t fold or compromise even a bit.

I would really love to see the Dems offer up exactly $5.whatever billion and outline exactly what that is to fund, leaving the wall out. "Here's your $5B for border security, Trump. Veto it if you'd like."

XX for walls here, here, and here.
XX for drone surveillance.
XX for agents at ports of entry.
XX for some kind of technology that ports of entry need.
XX for TSA raises.
XX for customs agents at airports.
XX for preventing off-road crossings from Canada.
XX for improved human trafficking enforcement.

The press is making it sound like the Dems won't compromise, and they will. The compromise is non-wall security measures.

I’d just like to thank the president for saying as many things that can be used against him in a court action opposing a declared state of emergency as possible, this morning.

And also for this all time quote:

“There is nothing that can’t be penetrated”
