Re: Dark Matter: Official Album Thread
And just quietly RP, your ongoing tirade against any criticism of the Dark Matter album pretty much pushed me fully away from PJ Chat since the album release. I find you insufferable so I went and played elsewhere.
I'm also pretty sure stip doesn't need your assistance here. He likes what he likes as we all do. You seem to get offended when people who have spent literally years posting together give each other shit for their (obviously) fully subjective tastes. What the hell is wrong with that?

This is all such a bizarre reaction to Oasisfan's comment specifically.RockPusher wrote:Yes and I'm not the only one and it has been pointed out many times by many people. Shit man, stip has taken so much stupid heat for loving two albums that so many here don't like. Love what you love, hate what you hate, but getting in other people's shit for their preferences is a bad look anywhere and particularly when it's directed at fans at a fan forum. It's Star Wars fan behavior. We should be above that.Birds in Hell wrote:And you believe that’s happening?RockPusher wrote:I just call people on when they're picking on people for liking the album on a Pearl Jam forum. That offends me.
And happening so frequently as to cause offence?
Also, this is definitively the opposite of being opinion police. But yeah, people who's feelings get hurt for making fun of people often can't handle it and cry foul.
Genuinely, how is this
doing any of this?oasisfan wrote:If one has to work to enjoy an album, who's doing it wrong?

Talk about getting defensive and not being able to handle things, sheeshRockPusher wrote: literally trying to rain on everyone who enjoys the album's parade

1. I’ll entirely apologize and take back any criticism I put to Wotman, at least as it relates to the audio quality of the tracks. Everything I hate about the album lies entirely with Ghanea.
2. The stems are good, but they’re weird in that they’re Atmos stems — bass tracks are commingled with vocal track and drum tracks; drum room tones are commingled with guitar tracks; guitar solos are commingled with stereo reverb tracks. This limits what I can do.
3. It’s not that I’m “taking my time” to make them perfect. It’s just that I can’t really prioritize this project over other stuff in my life. It’ll get done when it’s done, and I won’t circulate until I’m confident it’s about the best I can personally make it. My best ETA is another month.
Genuinely appreciate your interest, and the more recent conversations around compression and hearing loss and whatnot!
I guess the RM podcast mix is first than this right?

Re: Dark Matter: Official Album Thread
I think the way they play with tension and release here is so effective, and so much more organic (less calculated) than it has been.
Like, tension isn’t a word I would use to describe Won’t Tell, but when that bridge comes in (“I’d open the door, I’d let you in”) it feels like something has been holding on to you and it just suddenly released its grip. It’s like a rubber band snapping.
