In the books, Brienne gets captured by the BwBanners and is confronted by LSH for breaking her oath (she's carrying Lannister steel, after all). Then it's implied that Brienne is going to bring Jaime to answer for his crimes. Am I remembering all of that correctly? It could all conceivably happen on the show this season.
Yeah, that's about it. And we know from the trailers that Jamie is headed to the riverlands for the siege of Riverrun, so everyone will be in the right place. If Stoneheart is ever going to happen, it's now.

There's a shot from one of the trailers of a hooded figure on horseback hitting a wight with a flaming torch,so it certainly fits.
Although, the more I think about it, the more I think that the show will make it Benjen who saves them.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying. But isn't it pretty well regarded among readers that Benjen IS Coldhands? I thought it was the most popular and legitimate theory since L+R=J.

Nah,
they killed him long ago, according to the CotF. And by their reckoning nothing that happened in recent memory would be "long ago".

Personally, I think Coldhands is likely one of the Raven's Teeth, Bloodraven's personal guard who accompanied him to the wall.

Normally I'd agree with you, but the original reddit post is pretty comprehensive, with lots of photos of George's notes on the manuscript. So, unless it's been debunked and I never heard about it, I'd say it's accurate.

I'm just being petulant. I hadn't seen that story though and it kinda bums me out. It was my favorite of the fan theories.

Well, regardless of what George does, I'm fairly certain that the show is going to bring Benjen back next week to escort Bran and Meera back to the wall. Which would kind of make him Coldhands by proxy.

Yeah, I hope you're right. I've been banking on some kind of payoff with Benjin since the beginning. Would be fucking awesome to see him again.
Especially since we still have to tell Jon who he really is somehow.

Honestly, in the books I don't think we're ever getting Benjen back, and I think that's how I want it. For all the characters that go and then come back, and for everything that is more than what it seems, it's nice to have some things that are what they seem. Benjen went north of the wall during a time when it was more perilous to do so than it had been before. He wasn't the only ranger to do so, and he wasn't the only ranger to lose his life because of it.

Pretty much all Daario theories piss me off. I'd be ok with him being Pate but I hate how he became the Kindly Man in the show.
