Maybe. I heard some comments from Gilroy recently that sounded like he expected more seasons, but it’d be a huge commitment for the star.epilogue wrote:Simple Torture wrote:GFY, Bob Iger@SkitchP wrote:I think that's honestly the most telling praise of the show... I think we can blame Diego for this one, though.
Tony's original pitch was 5. Diego wanted 3. Then Disney said 2 after 1's low numbers and high cost.Simple Torture wrote:Maybe. Yes, this is more or less my understanding/memory as well. But the budget was also a big factor. I think Lucasfilm wanted 3 when Diego said no to 5.@SkitchP wrote:I really could be misremembering, but I thought they had decided on two before season one was even released. Gilroy and Luna realized to make a show of this quality was going to end up taking a decade for five seasons.

It was conceived/pitched as 5. Diego said no to 5. 3 was the initial compromised pitch. Everyone agreed to 2. And all of that happened before filming, I think.@SkitchP wrote:@SkitchP wrote:I really could be misremembering, but I thought they had decided on two before season one was even released. Yeah as far back as May of 2022 (6 months before the premiere) Gilroy was already saying it was only gonna be two. So well before Disney knew it would initially underperform. I don't remember ever seeing anything about it ever being conceived as 3 seasons

This is shortly after Book of Boba Fett and right as Kenobi was starting, so that may have been the reason for the pull back.@SkitchP wrote:@SkitchP wrote:I really could be misremembering, but I thought they had decided on two before season one was even released.
