Were the first and longest serving UN peacekeeping force since the UN was founded. Been in Lebanon for 50 years or close to it. There to provide a buffer to stop this exact kind of thing happening. Then israel shows up in loads of tanks and does this.

They’ve murdered UN troops in random incidents before but now they’re openly firing on UN troops and bases

Hes threatening UN troops in Lebanon at that buffer. IDF have already fired on them a few times now.

They’re now openly attacking UN positions with troops present and with chemical weapons

It’s risky but, but Netanyahu is correct here:

“Your refusal to evacuate the UNIFIL soldiers makes them hostages of Hezbollah. This endangers both them and the lives of our soldiers."

The only even semi-rational explanations as to why they haven’t retreated in the face of Israeli warnings and violence is that they are blocked by Hezbollah or their own leadership won’t let them (i.e. they are human shields against the Israeli invasion). Neither option is going to keep the UNFIL soldiers safe or help enforce the UN agreement on Israeli/Lebanon peace

If I were a cynical man, this would look like Hezbollah was coordinating with UNFIL to use UNFIL bases as cover and staging areas for what I can only assume to be large scale adopt-a-shelter-pet events in southern Lebanon

do a bit of reading BI..those UN troops have been there as a buffer for the last 50 years. To stop both sides slaughtering the other. Now the IDF wants to roll in and slaughter, and the villages for miles behind ar mostly all evacuated now.
