I knew I'd get some flack for that. In all honesty both Villains and S/T are at the bottom for me. When I heard S/T it was a year after SFTD came out, and to be honest, I've never really connected with it, even Villains has some moments I connect with.

I dig that song. I guess with QOTSA their albums usually have down the twisted rabbit hole vibe, save for the debut.Ello Sailor wrote:If you can't connect with Mexicola, I can't connect with you. Sorry burl.

Weird to see EV so low on so many lists. Where's LV when you need him.

Unpopular opinion- Mikey > Nick
Also, Mini Mansions > Nick's other projects.

Re: Queens of the Stone Age | …Like Clockwork
It's enitrely baffling to me that anybody would dismiss the first QOTSA album or even rate it low.
That must be a side effect of becoming a fan later on or something.
I could clearly see a decline into mediocrity happening in real-time starting with the second album, which at the time was a huge disappointment for me and all the other QOTSA fans I knew.
Then "new" white-bread fans started to pile on quickly and the quality of the music started to go downhill fast.
But that's just my experience. I'm sure there are people out there who think "Lightning Bolt" is a masterpiece, so que sera.

The first three are fantastic and the rest have some gems but are uneven overall.
I'd rank the top in this order:
Rated R
QOTSA
Songs for the Deaf

I'll admit that this is me. I was a late comer to this band so Era Vulgaris ranks high for me. I had a bunch of their other albums before I ever owned S/T. My familiarity with the other albums made it so I was playing catch up with the earlier stuff, and they had to climb their way higher in my rankings over more repeated listenings. They just started in a hole where they felt "new" even though they were much older.
But that's just my experience. I'm sure there are people out there who think "Lightning Bolt" is a masterpiece, so que sera.
