I think it's the imagery I like. It has an old-fashioned, mythological feel. Almost biblical.

Then again, it would probably be terribly executed and nothing like I'm imagining.

Pffft I hope there's a snake in the tree that makes the boy kill everyone...and then he realizes he's naked, dons a black suit and helmet to hide his shame.

Yeah I'm not buying that origin story either. Elements of it are cool but it doesn't work within the context of Star Wars nor how Lucasfilm deal with canon and how it's presented.

Can't speak for the EU but Clone Wars, the animated series kind of does. It's a great episode actually. And it's canon. Obi wan Anakin and his apprentice go to like another dimension where the force is overseen by a family. Brother is bad sister is good and the father is failing and dying and trying to keep them in balance.

There's also an episode which would make an amazing film where yoda goes to a planet and learns all his chops. He's put to a load of tests and has to face all his own hubris and failings. Not sure if that was in Rebels or clone wars animated series but I'm pretty sure it's clone wars. Well worth watching is Clone wars. Really great stuff in the whole series.

Rebels is amazing too but is ongoing. The last seasons finale was truly cinematic. Incredibly good.
