Not sure the fixed gear thing makes a difference though I suppose it could be the cause of getting slashed in the right situation but I have definitely done this many times on bikes with gears.
I was just looking at a scar from doing this like 5 or 6 years ago. I was on mountain bike trails with no rear suspension and hit a rock which kicked my feet off the pedals.
I changed my pedals. Not cuz of this but just cuz I hated the ones I had in general. The fact they were surrounded in serrated blades was definitely a con tho.
It’s cool you guys are still learning bike riding in your 30s.
personally I am just mentally challenged and still push the limits. i go over the handle bars minimum once a year.

I went over the handle bars in traffic like a couple years ago and when I opened my eyes I saw my buddies tire coming for my head. He turned at the last second. It's a visual memory that is permanently seared.

Cleaned out our cars, including both car seats. Took a nap while watching golf. Removed an old toilet and installed a new one. Successful Sunday.

Awoke at 6:30am to messages from my sister that there’s been some bad news after my mom’s surgery to remove a cancerous nodule in her lung. Tues out there’s more spread than the scans caught, so she’s now stage 4, not stage 1. So we’re all trying to wrap our arms around what’s next. Rough day.
