I think he means a record that contains Habit and Off He Goes, Brain Of J. and Low Light.

We should probably ask him, though.

That Spin review makes it seem like Stone sings Buckle Up and Matt sings Take the Long Way.

so would it be accurate to surmise that this album is a return to form factor?

For your own money which outlet has nailed how you feel about the last say three records.

To go back further is unfair and wouldn’t work

We can all get excited or bummed or excited about reviews but let’s look back.
Can't speak to professional reviews around the time, but the initial Backspacer takes around here were beyond exuberant.
Remember those?

They were the sweet meats

I like the Spin review because its talking about how lukewarm everyone felt with LB. Or most people...and how difficult it was for the band to actually release some new music all these years.

I don't remember which, but one of the recent Gigaton reviews made mention of the fact that they could prove how mediocre an album LB was by how bored the band looked every time they played those songs live.

Don't concur, just found it funny.

I don’t care for reviews. In fact the desperation to read them here is a bit strange. I get it. We do the same before a new Star War. (I don’t personally)
But the guy writing does this for a living. In whatever outlet. How much do you trust him not to be tired and cynical and dead to music? Or not?

Womp womp.

Ms Harmless wrote:I don't read reviews for "opinions" or overall judgments as much as descriptions, to pick up the general energy of the album; a review might slate something they've made sound enjoyable to me, or vice versa; I think it's fine to say don't depend on reviews, but to say they have no purpose beyond telling you what to think is a bit naive; after all, multiple reviews is multiple feelings and perspectives, especially for a band to whom nobody realistically feels they owe anything anymore

This.

I'm just a tourist, but Ms. Harmless seems to be a voice of reason.

I’m not gonna go back like 60 pages to figure this out: One of the songs is sung by Stone and another by Matt? Whoa.

That seems like a mistake given no other review mentioned it.

I think it was just poorly worded in the article or perhaps I read it wrong. It would be hilarious though if Ed only sang half the songs.

I'm in the same situation. I suspect most of that 2 weeks will be spent searching for Gigaton leaks, so I hope I find it early for my work's sake.

Hey, hey....what is this, an early-period Queens of the Stone Age record?
