Thanks guys. She’s still feeling pretty despondent today, but hopefully meeting with the oncologist tomorrow will start to give her a renewed fighting spirit. Really hard seeing her like this.

on a related note my MIL just went into the hospital because of a fall 2 days ago...broken shoulder and hip..she's 87
she's mostly likely not leaving the hospital the Dr. thinks.. it may be a matter of days they say...we're spending today trying to find flights to get home from Europe...ugh..got a lot of fun shit to cancel

Meeting with the oncologist brought some weird but good news. Instead of fast growing stage 4 in the lung and pleural lining, she actually has two different cancers. The fast growing one in the lung is back to a stage 1 and will hopefully be cured via radiation, and the other cancer in the pleural lining is a slow growing stage 4 that only needs to be monitored, as many live with it for years. Didn’t even know you could have two different cancers.

We are all more hopeful now, but we’ll see what this week’s next round of tests bring of course. Brain scan Tuesday.

Man, I came here to post what an exceptional day this has been. The hockey game this morning, a good workout with Heather Robertson, my son’s team winning the in-house basketball championship, I finished the NYT Sunday crossword in just over 33 minutes, and I saw 8 pheasant in my backyard at once (previous high was 3). Still have Dunk and Egg tonight.

Condolences to the great posters worrying about moms and having trips ruined by clumsy in-laws.

Hearing about your wonderful day lifts my spirits, daft. Reminder that there are always great days ahead.

Been living at my moms for the last two weeks because she went to the south to see my sister. Ive been here taking care of Pepa, our dog and the house and i love it here, but im also so fucking ready to go back to my place.

Got to my mom’s tonight. She’s in rougher shape after surgery rmthsn I thought, so glad I’m here. Next appointment is tomorrow afternoon already.
