I added something with the category "Bob Costas Space Rock" once, it's now my default genre.

These songs are beginning to sound like the fillers they (hopefully) are.

My favorite Taylor Swift song is better than every Lightning Bolt track I've heard so far.

I only post that because I never got the chance to respond to Harmless's thread.

It'll be Infallible / Sirens / Pendulum possibly. Anything with the opportunity to get prog rock on us.

I'm thinking it'll be the other songs.
These are probably the most radio friendly/accessible ones.

That or Mike had never actually listened to Floyd

This was from a review about Sirens:

"It's a beautiful one, Chris and I thought from the beginning that it sounded a bit like Pink Floyd, kind of like Mother."

This may be completely wrong, but sometimes I get the impression that Pearl Jam covers a certain song and then thinks to themselves "we need to get ourselves one of those". Like it happened with "The Real Me" and "Gonna See My Friend", which share an energy and tone. Maybe "Sirens" is them writing their "Mother", after performing the latter for a while.

Yeah, I reckon they've always done that.

I've had the same thought. It's probably at least a little true, they always talk about thier music in terms of other bands after all.

That's a bit scary. Pink floyd is the most ego bloated pompous music possibly ever. Can't stand them. Hope it's not too noticeable if Pj have gone there.
Though these songs seem to have been crafted like Townshend/REM/Springsteen and done well so they will probably nail the PF vibe too.

Bugger

Caleb Followill said about the new song "Don't Matter" that it was inspired by QOTSA. It made me cringe to hear him deliberately compare the song to another band, but mostly I was cringing because PJ do that all the time and it's really horrible. You don't give away your secrets like that...

I'm completely unafraid od a song sounding like PF.
It's those other ones that scare me shitless
