it would be a cool idea, but night one there might be a ton of people there to see who the opener is, then if it turns out to be someone like ted leo or someone that people werent all that excited about in the past then night 2 no one would show up early for the surprise. but if it was something a bit more crazy like soundgarden or someone bigger then most of their recent openers then the place could be PACKED for the 2nd night

sirens wasnt a leak, so i listened to the album version once and the video version once

though i dont think its sounds like bon jovi, just using what others had said for that

I still think that saying a Pearl Jam song sounds like Bon Jovi is like telling Peter Luger's that their steak tastes like a McDonald's hamburger.

I'd have no problem with Sirens if it were as good as I'll Be There For You or Always.

What about bed of roses?

Bed of Roses is ok, but I don't think it's as good as the other two. Those first lines bug me. I know for a lot of people that's THE power ballad of all-time, though, so I'm probably wrong.

I dunno, I was too young to know any pre-Always Bon Jovi songs when they were actually popular, so maybe that keeps me from enjoying Bed of Roses. Even Always I thought was unequivocally awful until my best friend/roommate in college went through a really bad break up and used to get a lot of solace from the song. It kinda made me look at the song (and Bon Jovi in general) slightly differently.

1. I wasn't being insincere in the other threads when I said that I think it's cool that posters who I respect here (I believe I specifically mentioned you and VinylGuy since you were in the chat with me when they released the video) felt a really deep connection to the song. I would never begrudge someone that, and don't think less of someone for enjoying a song for that reason. I still think it's bad though. But people tell me Motorcycle Drive-By is terrible, and I can't listen to that song without having an extreme emotional reaction. So I don't think they're mutually exclusive things.

2. None of Bryan Adams' power ballads are as good as I'll Be There For You or Always. I actually can't think of a single Bryan Adams ballad I would sit through on the radio. Maybe it's just from hearing them all so much growing up, but they do nothing for me. I'll sit through his upbeat stuff, but the ballads grate on me. Actually, scratch that. Star is alright.

The first solo is actually quite short. But there's an extended solo in the end part of the album version which is longer, but still not that long. I don't generally listen to the guitars on stuff that carefully, so I was surprised how free of self-indulgence it was when I went back just now.

And yes, it was. It was ridiculous. Almost everyone here is turned off the song for exactly that reason. I must be the only person left who loves it. Oh, and my dad.
