The 2M Red is a great cart at that price. I had one for a long time...actually still have it, just not using it right now.
Yesterday I just received my new Dynavector 10x5 Cart in the mail which I will eventually install on my Rega TT. I heard it at the store playing on a high-end system and I was very impressed.

Compatible in the sense that they will fit? Not necessarily - there are different headshell mount styles and different sized carts will affect the vertical angle of the tonearm (i.e. it won't be level)

A tougher question around compatibility is if the cart is a good sonic match for the table, which is usually dependent on the mass of the tonearm. It seems like people like Denon, Shure, or Audio-Technica carts with Technics turntables.

Well then I will stick tot he original plan of the 2M red! And bring my marantz in to get refurbished

This would make me happy. His earlier solo albums aren't really essential enough for me to crave on vinyl.
