Because the playoffs should be a tournament for the best RMer performances of the season.
So if you omit the placeholder team you are allowing a team into the playoffs that couldn't even beat them into the postseason? Hardly the "best rmer performance"
I get what you're saying, I just think the placeholder team in the playoffs is kind of lame. I see the existence of the placeholder team a way for us to have to earn wins instead of just getting a bye with no affect on the w%.

He had a sweet stash. Also, probably pitched one of the best baseball games ever. I have probably watched game 7 of the 91 series like 30 times.

So how are we gonna manage this fake team? Will the lineup be altered as the season goes on? Pitchers removed from the rotation if they suck?
