I don't think the Wreckage > Stevie run is bad at all for auto-tune. It's really normal stuff, imo. In terms of where I hear it the most on this album, I would say Setting Sun. The 1min 8 second mark has a note that Ed hangs onto and the inflection of his voice changes a bit. It's not really egregious but it's noticeable to me.

Btw, I would contrast this with a band like The Killers. I heard their latest single "Your Side of Town" today and they're really leaning into auto-tune. Listen to the chorus around the 55 second mark. Now, THAT is auto-tune.

What are the lyrics to the little interlude at the end of Waiting FOR Stevie?
I can obviously make out "be mighty, be humble, be mighty humble" but what is Ed singing underneath it?
"Sometimes I feel sorry
Sometimes I feel paralysed"
What's the second part at the end?

I hadn't heard sorry in that first lyric. Safe, or something, or something like that. can't listen right now

If i recall, it’s “shame.”
YouTube search the isolated vocal.

I meant the very last bit he sings, on the isolated vocals it sounds like "carry on, misunderstand" but that doesn't make sense.

It unequivocally does...
At the same time, it relies heavily on autotune. Does this impact your appreciation of the album at all?
I have no idea if autotune was used in the recorded versions of these songs, but Ed basically hits every note in the live versions.

yeah, this is not an autotune record at all, even if its being used.

Yeah, The Killers are using it more as an effect than a fix on that song.
Not that Brandon Flowers hasn't used it as a fix before. I think he said it's all over Hot Fuss.

Im still very pleased with how muscular it is, how tight the band is, something i truly welcomed in Gigaton. I love that PJ has leaned into this territory in their last two albums.

This is one of my all time favorite Eddie lyrics. It may well be my favorite. It is direct, but I think that’s part of its power. It took the payoff moment of a classic early era song and just made it the starting point.
I feel like the intended humor didn't really read here.
