I have found that over time as I age, I have to cut ties with about one formerly good friend a year, because they just fall off so far

a lot of my friends in the past were about partying, but never stopped partying

one of them is a big narcissist and i just can't attempt to interact. it's like a finger trap. if you engage at all ever so slightly you get this 10x reciprocal never ending reaction. like they crave the engagement

but others sadly have just become bad alcoholics, to the point where they have lost their job, family, or even gotten near death. not a narcissist but selfish in that they just prioritized drinking so much they abrogated on responsibilities as a parent

just too much partying and too much crazy out there

between that and maga infecting 70% of the population, i can basically interact with about 0.1% of the population at this point without feeling unsafe

I feel very lucky to have two close friends I've known for roughly 20 years now and still talk to every day. I love them both immensely.

I used to think I wanted to find more friends, but eventually I realized what I really wanted was for the two I already have to live nearby so we could hang out in person. It's a bummer that they're far away, but we do our best to do regular FaceTime/WhatsApp hangouts to stay connected.

Between them and my wife, I feel like I have a strong and reliable circle (read: people I don't need to worry about cutting off, ha). My relationship with my parents has also become closer and less strained recently, and I'm grateful for that too.

All this is to say, I guess, that it's nice to have a small group of people who don't suck and disappoint in the sea of toxicity that this country has become.
Whatever happened to that SJW couple you used to hate?

lmao my wife finally also got to the breaking point with them and we stopped being friends. What really sealed it was she (it was really the woman we were friends with since we both always hated her partner) started lying all the time, like about trivial stuff. And then whenever we would have a discussion where either of us disagreed with her at all, she would end the conversation and leave immediately. We'd both had enough.

it's 50 degrees today but with 25 mph winds

went for a bike ride up by the beach

low tide, otherwise would be a great surf day

nonetheless, as i was riding, this dude in a wetsuit is getting out

i'm cruisin' listening to my zep, give a little wave hello

he turns and nods - looks exactly like a young Mr. Miyagi. like cell for cell

skin seasoned from the sun and surf

felt so cool to be around a guy like that

then had to muscle my way back into the wind

quad blast

now hydration

That's awesome. Will this be your first uncle experience? Being an uncle rules.

By the time this baby is born it'll be my third uncle experience. My brother already has a kid and another on the way soon.

My only nephew is gonna turn 1 in a couple months so I don't think he'll have much use for cash
