Well - My daughter had her TaeKwon-Do tournament on the weekend. She did power breaking (boards) and sparring. The power breaking went well and she won her division - then the sparring. She ended up going up against a lass who looked to be at least 4-5 years her senior - was much taller and was a couple of belts higher in rank. She just got overwhelmed with techniques she's not even begun to train. We ended up throwing in the towel in the dying seconds as she was just completely overwhelmed. And post match she was basically hyperventilating etc. Wasn't easy watching your wee girl get punched in the head - kicked over etc.... She was an absolute trooper though and kept going till everything just got too much.

Once she had calmed down - we went and got her some Burger King, and that managed to make everything right in the world again somehow

Why’d she end up against someone so much higher in skill level than her?

Honestly I'm not sure. This was sold to us as a casual round-robin style comp so you can get a feel for things etc..... My only guess is it was just based on weight. Our lass is pretty big for her age.
Surprisingly I asked her in the evening if she'd do it again - and she said yes. Not sure if that was just for my benefit or not though

Sounds like she’s taking it great. Be proud.

Oh I am - believe me. Was she endured in there, and kept going, till she couldn't anymore - took real heart. Not too sure that I want to see her do it again though

Nope. I had no idea what Hungry Jack's was when I went to Aus. Was dissapointed to find out it was just BK with a different name

It can be grating how Aus tries to be its own thing so much, but it’s not really any different than other countries.

When they tried to expand to Australia back in '71, Burger King was already trademarked by a small restaurant. They had no choice but to pick a different name.

How are the whoppers over there? Haven't had one in many years, but I always preferred them to Maccas burgers.

I haven’t been to a Hungry Jack’s. Partly a conscious decision to eat less fast food, and partly I can’t come to terms with the branding.

If you’re asking me to get a Whopper this week, that is not a problem.

long day of working outdoors

finally appear to be over the hump on nigh time temp drop below freezing

reconnected the hose and outdoor shower

ran a new 4th irrigation line to the corner of the yard that gets most neglected. there is a line out there already but it waters too much stuff en route to the farthest corner to have any meaningful pressure left. laid an express route to the trees that need it most.

had to run the line under the deck. got down on my chest military style and was working my way along under

came out the other side, had to bury the line in the grass for a little

then ran it the rest of the way behind some trees along the fence

i hate 'smart appliances' and didnt realize this new irrigation head came with bluetooth. it actually worked fine on setup, no connection issues (very rare). and the app is super crisp. what a delightful surprise

ran a test and it's raining golden showers in that corner now

victory
