I think it was written the only production credit is to Evans, as well as PJ, so O'Brien isn't involved in that way.

Sounds pretty minimal.
the latest review says keys are on 75% of the album, albeit not all played by BoB

I don't know why but when I think of "acoustic aggression" I think of "Far Behind" from ITW

Seems like Ed was pretty prolific this time around, writing Who Ever Said, SBWM, Never Destination, Comes Then Goes and River Cross.

Ed wrote 5 out of the 12 songs.

Jeff wrote 2.

Stone 1.

Matt 1

Mike 1.

DOTC was a full band effort and Seven O Clock I'm not sure who gets the credit there, only that it originated from a jam session.

This review tries to make it seem like the previous reviews weak tracks are strong ones. Hard to believe. I expect this album to be very good but I doubt every song can be a stand out.

:hooray: Great scenario
Eh, I don't know I have tempered expectations on these Ed tracks. Never Destination could be a word shit salad like SBWM. Comes Then Goes could be a boring Ed solo acoustic track. Who Ever Said I'm REALLY hoping delivers an awesome PJ track I've been waiting for, but it may turn out more The Getaway or something like that. And River Cross we pretty much know what it is, a nice Ed track.

Imagine being Stone Gossard, one of the best songwriters in the world, and you get 1-2 songs on each album, every 5 or so years, and that includes a couple of the weaker songs on the past two records. Amazing.

I don't know that he "gets" 1-2 songs each album. Maybe he's not writing as good of stuff as he should. On LB he came up with the bullshit Let The Records Play, and now by all accounts his sole contribution this time around is one of the weirder tracks in Buckle Up. I think on Backspacer his main contribution was Amongst The Waves, which is actually a pretty decent track, but not his strongest song ever by any means.

I don't know whats up with Stone.

I think LTRP is let down by the vocal and lyrics, but wouldn’t be an all time great anyway. I also think it’s a little underrrated anyway.

He did have partial writing credit for The Fixer, Johnny Guitar, Infallible, Pendulum and DOTC (where he wrote and performed the vital bass line).

One of the best songwriters in the world probably is being a little too generous at this stage in his career.
