Where would you put the TV in this room?

Picture a big rectangle laid out horizontally.

On the left short side there's a built in bookshelf and a brick fireplace taking up the entire wall. On the opposite short side there's a tall window with maybe 3' on either side and 2' below.

On the "top" long side there's a picture window taking up about 2/3 of the wall, with about 5' of wall on either side and less than a foot below the window. On the opposite long side it's all wall.

We're thinking of putting it at an angle in the "top right" corner, but I would like to open the floor to suggestions.

Yeah, good point. My wife already shot down my idea of a small TV mounted in each corner, sports bar style.

Yeah, good point. My wife already shot down my idea of a small TV mounted in each corner, sports bar style.

My dentist has one mounted on the ceiling so you can watch the news while you're laid back in the chair. Maybe you could do that over your couch.

I fucking hate large brick fireplaces that take up the entire wall. Its so dated and leaves no room for the tv/records etc..

Im glad I was able to find one of the few places in the entire fucking county without this issue.

I like this one because it only takes up half the wall and it double sided (other side is dining room). There's a built in shelf next to it which is where the record player and a few records will go.

Our room is long, and has a huge fireplace. I don't like TV on fireplace situation, so we tried it on a stand next to the fireplace. It isn't very feng shui, but we separated the other side of the living room with furniture so it looks like that area is a separate reading nook.

Nice. I also hate the TV mounted above the fireplace look. We have a similar setup. Our other side is a music area with a piano and records.

I think it's gonna have to go on a stand in one of the corners. As long as I can track down replacement legs for the TV on ebay.

Do you tip flooring installers? Google says no because they're generally pretty well compensated, but this guy has been clutch for us. He worked all weekend to get us back home a couple days early.

Should I slip him $100 or is that absurd?

I say tip. If you are somewhat anxious about whether or not you should tip AND you have the money to tip AND he did work outside of normal hours to make sure y’all were taken care of ...

Then tip.

You know we've been out of our daily TV routine for a couple of weeks now, and I don't really miss it. I sat in the living room for half an hour last night watching deer mill around the back yard. John Prine was right!

Starting to get estimates on our basement remodel. How much will a kidney go for these days?

It'll probably take more than a kidney. My eyes about popped out of my head when I started looking into the cost of finishing a basement.

Considering it will almost double the amount of livable space in our house, it will be worth it. But man alive.
