The Hitcher is one ill be watching soon this month.
I'm a little surprised by this but not entirely. I enjoy a majority of his work but there are times where I feel his writing is the stronger part of the scenario. Different strokes.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Revisited A Nightmare on Elm Street last night. I really thought it would click this time but nope, I actually liked it less than ever. Craven just wasn't a very good filmmaker, IMO. Once Nancy starts setting up Home Alone-style traps for Freddy toward the end it deflates any hope that was left of the movie working for me.
He’s just very frustrating to me. Lots of good ideas and lots of good moments but I don’t think he has the directorial talent or vision to pull off entire movies, generally speaking. I would say Scream is his only entirely successful film that I’ve seen.oasisfan35 wrote:I'm a little surprised by this but not entirely. Given that I watch so few films as it is these days I will not be renewing Shudder at the end of the month. Twenty days to pick-off a few from my list:
- Spoiler: show
I feel like Scream was almost lightning in a bottle with him, Williamson and modern society... helluva cast too.LoathedVermin72 wrote:He’s just very frustrating to me. My favorites off your list:
Black Christmas (original, I assume)
The House of the Devil
The Church
It Follows
Possession
I was pretty let down by Death Game and thought its cheaper forerunner, Little Miss Innocence, was much more interesting. So was Knock Knock, for that matter.
my biggest surprise of the year, because honestly I thought the trailer looked bad, then the movie really wasn'tVinylGuy wrote:oh yeah i really wanna see that one
bart wrote:annual Scream Factory sale is happening - some pretty good deals. I picked up The Devil Rides Out, Pumpkinhead, Children of the Damned, Quartermass and the Pit, Plague of the Zombies, Ravenous, and the Howling for under 100 bucks.
dude thats good news! reviews are good, and i know the movie seems to be very fucked up.bart wrote:Loved Terrifier 3
I haven't seen it since highschool, but I remember loving itEllo Sailor wrote:So many based Ravenous enjoyers.
I'd like to watch the second one. it's on Amazon prime, but it has ads for some reason and I don't do ads.VinylGuy wrote:dude thats good news! reviews are good, and i know the movie seems to be very fucked up.bart wrote:Loved Terrifier 3
I won't spoil anything but it does go way beyond either of the first two in some ways. I personally didn't think there was anything quite as gnarly as the bedroom scene in 2, but it's close. Part of that was probably due to how much comedy there is in this one, helps to undercut the nastiness a bit (but just a bit).VinylGuy wrote:dude thats good news! reviews are good, and i know the movie seems to be very fucked up.bart wrote:Loved Terrifier 3

And tommy I think Shudder and Screambox still both have free trial deals if you haven't had them before, you could catch 2 that way since it's on both.
