So let me get this straight, it's now cool and hip to be anti pitchfork, right?

How did you feel about each of them on your first listen?
MYM - relieved that it wasn't a stinker
Sirens - relieved that it wasn't a stinker

Not really, as the video for "Sirens" is the only way to officially listen to the song without buying it on iTunes.

You need to combine the views of the "Mind Your Manners" music video to the views from the video they used to premiere the song, which is currently at 1,698,642
Wow and here I thought I liked Sirens more.
Its all right there in the numbers, you definitely like MYM more

Both of them are...

You don't qualify as a fanboi then

With the first listen, I thought "fucking shit" this is another Amongst The Waves, or Inside Job. Both of which I thought sounded great at first, but by the third or fourth listen, I was like what the fuck?

Sirens is cheesy as hell, but gets better with each listen unlike the previous songs I mentioned. It is not just a bunch of hooks put together in some sort of random sequence, it does come together.

That being said, it is not exactly what I want to hear from the band. But a good poppy cheese song is not a bad thing when done right. And I think they nailed this one. It is just hook after hook after hook, which they avoided for so long, but they have tried on a few tracks over the past ten years, and I think this is the first time they got it right.

The video is terrible though. Why bother? If you are not going to put some artistic effort into the visuals, there is no point in making a video. You would think the Riot Act videos would have had an impact.

I think it's a fantastic song. I get the impression that it is about his daughter though - not necessarily a love song about his wife.

It's not my plan to send you in the arms of another man

Yeah, that'd be a bit weird if so. Probably not, then.

It is still plausible that it's about his daughters. A father is THE man in his daughter's life. It is a relationship that is, of course, different than the one with his wife but there are similarities when it comes to letting go of the person when they are leaving. A daughter leaving home to marry (or whatever reason) is just as dramatic as a wife leaving. I can see how someone would interpret the song as Eddie leaving (by his death) his daughters into the arms of another man to keep them safe.

It's creepy that you think it's creepy that a father could have that much love for his daughters. I hope you have sons....or better yet, just cattle

Do you have daughters? One of your biggest worries if you die is shit she's gonna find a man to fill the void? Or to keep them safe cause they can't fend for themselves? And what kind of boyfriend is this that he's filling the position of both boyfriend and father? I'll tell you what, a creepy one.

Not to mention I think his kids are well kids, as in fairly young.

The oooonly way that line could make sense in context with his kids was if it was about him being worried about his wife leaving him marrying another dude and that guy becoming a father to his kids or something. But that would be weirdly possessive and a strange way to word it also. Either that or ed is a creepy asshole.

The more I listen to it the more I love it. Ive listened to it so many times over the past few times. I honestly think these are the most powerful lyrics he's ever written, or at least up there. It's so simple yet complex. It's sad yet hopeful....it falls right into that weird emotional spot that Black always hit for me where I just totally feel everything he does. And he sings it so powerfully and sincerely. I just love it. This is a mature Eddie Vedder and I love it.

Is it really that hard to believe that Ed could be a pedophile? After what happened to him in Alive there's nothing surprising about it.
