So what exactly was the Tigers' off-season strategy now that the guy that would have been the perfect addition to their team and made Dombrowski's moves more sensible has signed elsewhere?

The only move that doesn't seem to fit is dealing Fister. Dumping Princes long term deal, even with no return, was great. I think Prince might actually be done. Kinsler and Davis add a lot of athleticism, and moving Miggy to 1st helps the defense tremendously. Also longer term payroll flexibility opens up the possibility of extending their window of contention. Im just not sure why they had to deal Fister to do it. I think DD must have really liked Robbie Ray.

If they end up re-signing Scherzer this offseason makes perfect sense for Detroit.

Prince has one GREAT year in Texas (this year) 2 more okay years...
I think hes gonna really come out focused this year after last season. Dude plays everyday though at that weight... I never saw him having a long career.

I sympathize with the golden eagles here. They basically got the rug pulled out from under them with this whole thing.

Really glad to see Frank Thomas get in, I always liked that guy. Great class going in this year.

Feel bad for Biggio. He'll most likely get in eventually, but he was a great fucking ballplayer, he should have been in before Frank Thomas.

And, oddly enough, he had a perfectly reasonable and defensible ballot that voted for the ten best players available. It's a shame other voters can't put the same amount of thought into their ballots that random fans are willing to.

It should be hall of famers voting on it not writers.
