Fighting a bit of a summer head cold. Gonna hit the TM again tonight, then sit in the sauna for an hour.
Really hoping it doesn't spread into my chest and aggravate my Valley Fever.

Been travwling through Iowa, Neb, and Missouri this week. Somehow managed to get a 3-5 mile run in every day, all of them shitty. I dont know how people do it in this humidity.

Impressive discipline. How long did it take you to settle into that routine?
I had a run planned today (trying to get one every other day) and then woke up and realized I was scheduled to open the bar instead of close it. Since that frees me and my better half up for date night, I'll miss that run. At least I Ubered to work which means I can rent a bike home and get a quick workout with the commute.

Back home it took me about a month to find a routine that worked. On vacation im just running whenever i can out of necessity because it feels like im eating 10,000 calories of bbq a day.

Noble effort on the running and eating front.

Ummmm... you're talking to a guy who ran 40+ miles on a broken foot and ran the toughest 50 miler in America with chronic diarrhea.
I can't risk a chest cold getting worse.
I have dormant coccidioidomycosis (Valley Fever) spores still floating around in my chest. If that shit flares up, I'll end up with pneumonia and be wiped out for months.

what's everybody's pre-run ritual. I typically get high and stretch and listen to some tunes and just get stupid. For me it's a real adrenaline experience. I assume this is typical?

Coffee is my pre-run ritual.

I don't do anything. I put on my shoes and go. I've had a really bad week. Combine it with vacation last week and I'm doomed. I've let daft twat down hard.

Stretching and getting yourself "pumped up" is a waste of adrenaline, Dev.
Save that shit for the run.

So I tried to go without stretching and then I got ITBS. Last night I stretched a ton and felt great.

I spend about 30 seconds stretching everything below the knees and go.
I've gained 7 lbs in 7 days on the road. Pretty impressed with myself, tbh.

I've been mainly on the bike and swimming lately, but I'm seeing an osteopath tomorrow to hopefully help the shin splints.
This guy has been recommended by a few friends that are serious runners. Apparently his focus is not to keep you coming back, but to treat the root cause instead.
He sometimes does dry needling (acupuncture) as part of his treatment. Anyone had this?
