Open question: The Mass Effect games are my favorite things ever, but I can't get into "hard"er RPGs like Fallout 3, the first Dragon Age, Skyrim, etc. I hate the gameplay and I hate that your protagonist isn't voiced. But do you think I might enjoy Dragon Age II? I recently found out the protagonist is voiced and now my interest has been piqued. Do you still have to deal with intense leveling and potion-making and all that bullshit?

You may enjoy Dragon Age 2. It's not a hard core RPG by any stretch. There is very little item management and very little level grinding required to advance in the game. There are some overall negatives though. Many environments are reused over and over again. For example by the middle portion of the game you will probably feel like you are going in the same dungeon over and over again.

If you like the action aspects of Mass Effect but would like to try a more hard core RPG I would go with Demon Souls and Dark Souls. Top notch games. And very intense.

Excited for Sunset Overdrive next week. Just looks like it will be a fun game to play.

But in a few weeks, The Master Chief Collection could very well take over my life.

Anyone tried The Evil Within? Thought about picking that up and have heard good things.

You might try South Park: The Stick of Truth. You are silent (it's kind of a running gag), but the character stuff is excellent, and the hardcore RPG stuff is toned down. assuming you like South Park.

I actually love South Park and did try playing that, but I got bored quickly. Couldn't get into it. I didn't like the turn-based combat and just found the gameplay in general to be dull. I kind of hate Bethesda in general, though.

it was a really good game. Essentially a few episodes of the show all in one place.

LV, how far are you getting into games like Bioshock and Fallout 3 before you give up? Most of those games have a little bit of learning curve but usually the beginning is the hardest part and the meat of the game is insanely rewarding.

I'm enjoying the Borderlands pre-sequel quite a bit.

I probably played BioShock for like an hour or two before I got stuck and frustrated. My wife loves it so I've seen some more, and I can tell I would just get more and more frustrated. Full disclosure: I generally suck at videogames and get annoyed easily if they are overly difficult. Plus, the gameplay just isn't my cup of tea. I tried Infinite and had a somewhat similar reaction, even though it was noticeably easier.

Fallout 3 I played more. I spent like a week with it. I love the concept, so that kept me going, but I just hated the mechanics. I hated the non-voiced protagonist. I hated the buggy gameplay. I hated how much leveling you have to go through just to do simple tasks like picking locks and whatnot. And after the tenth time getting killed by some uber-powerful mutant while my rusty rifle disintegrated in my hands and left me without a weapon, I said "fuck this shit."

Just started Borderlands for the first time.

My god, this game needs to come out already. Far and away my most anticipated release.
