We... can reach the sea
They... won't follow me,
Shadows... they fear the sun
We'll... make it if we run!

God, "Intervention" has the most AMAZING key change at "I can taste your fear, it's gonna take you up and lift you out of here"; major goosebumps

The Suburbs
I think it’s pretty safe to say from their impact more generally and the comments we’ve been following here that each of these first three, Funeral, Neon Bible, and The Suburbs are really undisputed classics. And I agree with that wholeheartedly. I can’t definitively say any one is better than the other after this listen, and frankly this is killer from the start to the finish, so consistently awesome that pointing out one individual track can’t be done to detract from the others. And honestly, expertly put together album as an entity - something I think becomes more rare as the universe becomes more digital.
My one unique thought, or the thing that occurs to me most in this album, is the musical movement of it all. Sure it’s great indie rock with lots of different sounds and influences and personal touches unique to Arcade Fire, but it’s delivery really makes me think of classical music and musical movements on a forest from the trees kind of way. In a sense, almost literally well orchestrated. And genius again.

Reflektor
Not as big of a swing as one would think, Arcade Fire seem to lean in much more on a more synthetic sounding album here, which would have been its predecessor’s equal if it were say about 25 minutes shorter. The first half I think mostly matches it’s grand standard for album making. Reflektor, We Exist, Flashbulb Eyes, Here Comes the Nighttime I, Normal Person, You Already Know, and Joan of Arc is a phenomenal run, but it’s after that it seems the album starts to drag a bit and get inside its own head. There are still highlights, like Awful Sound and Afterlife, but we could do without a bit of the excess of n the second half, like a multi-minute fade in and multi minute fade out in Supersymmetry. Still a great album, but it doesn’t quite hold up to those first three.

I like the sound of getting inside a head
