Uncertain how it will go. There’s no world where this capitulation makes it more possible to break Democrat ranks (it makes it impossible), and the shutdown was increasingly infuriating to even the most Freedom Caucusy Republicans, as well.

It’s possible he could try the same ploy again, from a much weaker starting point. My bet is he will fundraiser off of it, talk a lot, try to find a way to save face, then take an out....maybe declare an emergency (by now absolutely destined to lose, as well).

Isnt Trump's plan just to say "hey, I compromised and now the Dems won't negotiate!" and then shut down again with the blame shifted on them?

I stand by the above. He’s tossing threats like dwarves right now to keep from looking like the failure he is, but this was not a game he enjoyed nor wants to play again.

The whole shutdown was such an awful miscalculation that the scenario verb describes almost makes too much sense to see him doing it. At this point, I imagine something equally unpopular and unadvisable, like attempting to exert powers through a state of emergency, as a more likely scenario.

This was Trump being neutered by Nancy Pelosi in front of the entire country. This is the tipping point where only the most ardent supporters will soon be left.

Hopefully those goddamn millennia libs respect Pelosi a bit more now.
