That's the law in California, Child Protective Services can take your kid, re-home them and start gender affirming care if the parents are deemed to be insufficiently supportive of their gender identity. This extends to minors in other states as well.

Not sure about Philly, but it that kid is able to get to CA, then sure.

so you think child protective services are relocating kids for the purpose of researching gender reassignment? or are minors moving to CA so they can get their shit changed?

Minors are being encouraged to go to California to get their 'shit changed', no parental input required.

There's going to be some awesome custody disputes where the state won't return the child to the custodial parent because the parent that absconded will claim the custodial parent isn't sufficiently affirming. Use this one weird trick to win custody of your child.

Jesus. Do a google search.
https://www.cbs8.com/article/news/verif ... %20consent.
“California law requires parent or guardian consent for gender-affirming care for minors,” said Rebecca Gudeman, senior director of health for the National Center for Youth Law. “Senate Bill 107 does not change any laws or policies related to who may consent for health care in California.”

Gudeman told VERIFY that Congressman Nehls’ claim that SB 107 allows doctors to perform “gender transition surgeries” on children from other states without parental consent is 100% inaccurate.

“Senate Bill 107 attempts to reaffirm parental rights to make medical decisions for their child,” Gudeman said. “What Senate Bill 107 says is if a parent brings their child to California for gender-affirming care, and exercises their parental right to consent to that care, California will honor that decision.”

That article also addresses joint custody.
SB 107 also provides guidance for child custody cases where one parent lives in California and the other in a state where gender-affirming care is restricted. According to the law, California courts will have “temporary emergency jurisdiction,” meaning they have the authority to hear and make decisions on child custody cases based on the facts of that case.

The law does not require the state’s courts to side with the parent or guardian living in California or the one who supports gender-affirming care if the two sides disagree.

I tried to research this, but the top results are from Answers in Genesis, The Christian Broadcasting Network, and the National Review, so ... y'know, ... organizations not known for support of transgender individuals. However, the CBN article says surgeries increased from 100 in 2016 to 500 in 2019. That's about a 3rd of a percentage point of transgender boys with a median age of 17.5 years.

No info on parental consent, but one must assume it's needed since it's EVEN NEEDED IN CALIFORNIA! The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests it's helpful while calling for more research. https://publications.aap.org/pediatrics ... culinizing

I'm gonna hold off on calling this a crisis.

NOTE: My statements assume that half of the 300,000 transgender kids in the United States are male.

Parents don't get any input once child protective services takes custody of the child. Not affirming your child's gender identity is now grounds for the state to take custody.

Sure, the majority of pediatric gender affirming surgeries are going to be with the 'consent' of parents who are told their child is going to kill themselves if they withhold it, but soon there will be some wards of the state doing it all by themselves.

I agree, but it begs the question: when does a human gain the ability to consent?

There is a movement in proggle circles that as part of deconstructing hierarchies children should have equal rights and powers as adults do. Children don't choose their parents and forcing them to be raised by something other than a chosen family is a violation of their rights as it reduces them to being the 'property' of their parents. IOW, it is only with the child's consent that a parent gains authority and not by biological relationship because the child was never given the chance to consent to being sired/birthed by any particular individual. From this is where they can draw the child's ability to consent to medical transition, because if you follow this logic, it's a violation of their human rights to deny it to them if they consented to having the treatment just like an adult would consent to it.

Sounds like the right wing argument against BLM. ;)

Yes it is unfortunate that some children are stuck with shitty parents. Which is what brings me to the opinion that parental candidates should at least prove to be sane and stable before earning the right to have children. But things being the way they are, chances are kids are better off not making their own decisions. Just my common sense talking. I wouldn’t say that children are the property of their parents. It’s just in their best interest to make decisions for them, Assuming you have their best interest in mind.
