I'm not denying the existence of music that has the fiddle as a core component. Give me some credit. I'm saying that in my humble opinion its use in modern music tends to do more harm than good. Case in point - Hold Back The Tears by Neil Young; the version on American Stars and Bars with the fiddle sounds twee compared with the raw and emotional acoustic version sans fiddle. As I say, it's purely personal taste. Nails down a blackboard to me.
