There is an eagle in me and a mockingbird . . . and the eagle flies among the Rocky Mountains of my dreams and fights among the Sierra crags of what I want . . . and the mockingbird warbles in the early forenoon before the dew is gone, warbles in the underbrush of my Chattanoogas of hope, gushes over the blue Ozark foothills of my wishes—And I got the eagle and the mockingbird from the wilderness.

In some cases yup. This one girl I know, absolute bombshell, objectively pretty by just about any standard, told me she considers herself ugly and enjoys being called ugly because it validates how she already feels about herself. Society (and social media) has completely warped some people's self perception, it's pretty sad
Obviously it varies from individual to individual. I know some model-level pretty people who know they're pretty and feel good about it
