I didn't dislike the first episode. But it definitely felt like it was trying too hard. It was like Aziz really wanted to make his own Louie but doesn't fully grasp how to do it or why Louie is so great.
But I only watched the first episode. I'll watch a few more and see if it settles at all.
I watched the first two episodes and it did nothing for me. You're Louie observation is spot on. A show like this has to be really insightful and it doesn't pull that off.

i've watched 4 episodes so far..its pretty predictable and spot on what joey said about trying to be like louie but coming up way short
