Marvin Bernard was the player that made me realize how screwed George Brett got when he was famously called out for too much pine tar on his bat after hitting a home run. A decade or so later players like Bernard were coming to the plate dripping with pine tar from head to toe and nobody cared.

Toboni has already overhauled big parts of that franchise. Lots of people in Red Sox country were very upset when he left.
