yeah i loved that flashback ep. It was so well directed, gorgeous black and white, very cool acting. I do agree that the final episode was rushed. They need it one more.

Thought the ending was great; I felt like they stuck the landing and the two leads did a great job at making a relationship I cared about with a relatively limited amount of time. I don't know if anything this season reached as high as the Bent Neck Lady and Two Storms episodes from the first season, but I did enjoy the ending of this season significantly more. I liked the flashback episode somewhat, but I wish they'd found a way to do it earlier; the episode before it ends so intensely that moving away from that for a whole hour near the end of the season made it feel like it dragged more than it probably did.

Agree. The scenes in the flashback with Viola in the room pacing back and forth again and again in her routine felt very timely.

I didn't think this was something I'd like. I was expecting a totally different show. The only reason I finally pulled the trigger is that I saw Dr. Sleep and liked it. I wanted you see more of Flanagan's work.

I'll definitely check out Bly after this.

And you are for a treat with Hill House last couple of episodes. Bly Manor is not all Flanagan but his prints are there. You should watch his movies.

A few eps into Queen's Gambit and enjoying it. The first ep was the clear standout.

This show is truly fantastic. Phenomenal visuals. Tense and tender. Genuinely scary in parts (there's a moment in ep 8 that is got me big time; haven't been that frightened in a while; even tops the thing that really got me in Lovecraft Country, which is saying a lot). Excellent pace throughout. Just wonderful.

I love the way they treated the horror and the concept of what a haunting is. Also, I miss Timothy Hutton. He should be in more stuff.

Theo was my favorite character.

Agree with everything. Flanagan is so good with scares. His movies are super scary and also have a lot of heart. They are super sad and dark too. I love him, and Hill House might be one of his best work. Its really good. Im dying to see Midnight Mass next year.

Yeah Hutton was so good...but i love how he uses Henry Thomas. He is great in every Flanagan project.

I haven't yet, no. The wife wanted to take a break after Hill House. But we're both excited. I'm hoping we can dive in this weekend.
