That's my taste in pj music also. I originally wanted gigaton to be a slow, grooving classic rock album with instrumenal sections because i didnt realize they could come up with anything fresh at this point lol, but if there's nothing else close to dotc on this album its prob going to be a knock against it for me. Im just wondering if this album is going to flow well.

Y do u say that, stumpy? Could be a disappointment but with dotc, river cross being good or at least ok to most (?), long songs and "an amazing (hopefully whoever said that is right) guitar solo by mike" and promising production, it wont suck.

things I think would have been fun on this song:

a more layered drum groove, with a few backbeats, especially because the intro sounds very bare

just *something* a little more during the first verse when Ed comes in but the guitar hasn't yet; it just feels too bare, having that one drum beat and one synth line, and as a result, Ed's voice is thrown too far forward (in a song where, happily, he generally sits back nicely in the mix, for the first time since Riot Act)

more cowbell / a handclap maybe

some weird mumbled spoken-word far in the background at times in the first half, to mirror the layered vocals in the second half

just a little more fuzz / harshness in the guitar sound

BUT, I'm only thinking about how cool these things would be because the song is inspiring enough already; I'm perfectly fine with it and I'm amazed that nothing about it embarrasses me after all this time

I'm enjoying mulling over the lyrics, I think there's definitely things being said about gendered approaches to the end of the world

Admittedly, when I first heard that was the title for the first single, I was pretty wary. The song put those worries to rest, but still.
