this is very sad

and the U.S. should pay reparations, if not already

but

in the current context, Ukraine is defending their country from an invading force, and asking for them to help their defense

very different from the Laos case, where the US was the Russian invading force

even without cluster bombs, ukraine going to need to go through massive de-mining and gut renovation effort all over those territories

if they can ever assert control over them again

which they might not until putin is dead

Turkey is still being weird about Sweden joining NATO. How dare they have Kurds that aren't subject to imprisonment by Turkey.

Hopefully Sweden will get to join Nato by the end of the year.

Didn't the Turkish foreign ministry just re-iterate that they opposed Swedish ascension a few days ago? Does Erdogan just not talk to the rest of his government?

Erdogan decides. He has said similar things himself. Wonder what convinced him.

If history is any indicator, a sizeable personal kickback.

On cluster bombs:

Russia, Ukraine, and USA are not part of the agreement to not use them.

Russia has already laid waste to Ukraine with said bombs and Ukraine (as 96583UP already said) is asking to use them in their defense.

Also, are we still using b-52s to drop them? I feel like some things have changed since Vietnam (not much, but some).

Buying the S-400 system despite plenty of warnings was an even worse decision in hindsight. Now they can purchase a less capable aircraft than the F-35 and buy weapons from a country obligated under Article 5 to come to their aid, but only after negotiations. Playing footsie with Russia wasn't worth it.

Roseanne says Ukraine is full of Nazis. Is this correct?

I wonder if Erdogan would ever support or assist a coup against Putin

he prob doesn't like having to play second fiddle to that prick

and could make a lot more money with a less-thievy Russian PM

It's funny that Ukraine went to some effort to reign in their Nazi curious military units while Russia just has openly Fascist units.

The real question is which Nazis would you like to minimize and which ones would you like to spotlight.

indeed, as is the case with many wars

it is a choice between the less-bad option
