This guy has been recommended by a few friends that are serious runners. Apparently his focus is not to keep you coming back, but to treat the root cause instead.

He sometimes does dry needling (acupuncture) as part of his treatment. Anyone had this?
Got bottom paged.
Acupuncture has been a staple in elite ultra running for about 10 years now. The people who tend to get it are people with a chronic injury. They use it for pain management, which is the only thing it's been medically proven to help with.

Anton Krupicka did it for years while dealing with tendinitis in the shin.
The official diagnosis is anterior compartment syndrome. The osteo found the causes pretty quickly, mainly overuse but attributed by what appears to be an old injury in my right ankle. The old injury has resulted in limited range of my right tibialis anterior.

He did a fair bit of massage and manipulation (popped my right ankle) and acupuncture - which was an interesting sensation.

Plan of attack is running a mile every second day on a soft surface. Plus focused daily stretching and using a jump rope. If it responds well and it improves my limited range, then the osteo expects I should be able to start clocking up the miles in the next couple of months.
Compartment syndrome can be some serious business. It's always fascinated me because its like this one area in your body forgets how to heal itself properly.

I have a friend who bruised his arm in a water skiing accident and he had to go to the ER to have his arm opened up, because it was 3 times the normal size and about to split open on its own.

Obviously yours isn't acute. Find some grass to run on.

Pre-run: Peanut butter and toast, water and a five minute warm-up walk to whatever track or neighborhood I want to run in. It's all about the post-run ritual for me. I like to plan my routes to finish near my grocery store where I grab some snacks and water, stretch my legs on a park bench and let the endorphins kick in. When I get home, I put on loud music and ride the high. Typically chores happen afterwards, and they're more fun than chores should be because I just ran and music is on.
Interesting.

Man, Strava is fun but I need a real in person running club. Or more friends who run.

 That's the plan. There's a large reserve/oval down the road. I'll be spending some time cutting laps there for a while.

I'm a member of the local running/social club that has almost 1,000 members. Getting tonnes of kudos and comments of support is kinda cool.

TM again this morning. Monsoon blew in last night/this morning and I fully intended to run in it, but the rain got super heavy right as I was leaving, so I went to the gym instead.

Three treadmill runs in a row. :?

Hope to hit a trail sometime this week.

I dunno, joining an online community full of potentially savage strangers feels intimidating to me. They can't all be RM.

Nothing fancy, just a pair of Nike running shorts with spandex undershort lining. Felt like ...

I used to run in knock-off Target and Walmart shorts.

But good shorts are as important to me now as good shoes. I have Nike, Under Armour, NB, Columbia and Adidas shorts.

Surprisingly, I like my two pairs of Columbia shorts the most. Mostly because of their spandex underlining.

None of my Nike shorts have spandex linings. Do you have a model name for the ones left at the airbnb?

I think they were these:

Got em at a Nike outlet for like $20.

:D So I saw this post this morning before I went out. That's a 7:35 pace, not the pace of someone who is toast. If you started a marathon that way, you could average 9:39 for all remaining 20 miles and finish under your 4 hour goal.

So, inspired by this, I went out with the intention of giving it an effort. I checked my time at the 10k: 47 minutes on the nose. I was so excited about it my last 4 miles were my best. Wound up with a 7:32 average pace. I can build on that. Tomorrow I will aim to average 8:30, but I will run for 2 hours.

Those look great. Sorry for your loss, man. I love the Nike outlet. Grabbed a pair similar to those once for close to the same price. I love shorts with discreet zippable pockets that I can stash a car or house key in.

Think I'm gonna retire the Boston Boosts.

Noticed my form is starting to break down. The Bostons basically encourage a heel strike because of all the boost material in the heel and make me lazy in regard to maintaining form.

Moving the Ekidens back to my training and racing shoe for now.

Those Bostons have about the least amount of Boost material in their line. I always thought of them more as a 10 k distance and below shoe.

Once my supernovas wear out I'm not sure what I'll do. They've been okay but took forever to break in. I heard the new supernovas from this year suck so I probably won't get those (you're right on adidas being pricey).

I was always confused by the Boston name. Doesn't seem like a great choice for long distances but I'm a novice and a failure.

They were designed to be a marathon shoe, hence the "Boston" in the name.

Wish Adidas had a pair with the Boost material and a lower heel-toe drop. 10MM feels like I'm on skates after being in 4MM shoes.
