He obviously doesn't have the voice from '93 anymore, but his approach to these 4 songs is just right in my book. He doesn't get screamy either, which is a plus.

Do you honestly think Ed's vocal delivery is good in Swallowed Whole? Particularly, the chorus?

"Whisper songs inside the Wiiaaiianndd... Breathing in forgiiiaaaiiveneeeaass... Liaaiiaaaf's vibrationnnnss with no end... hear the planet hummaiaiaaianing"
It's not any worse then R&B singers doing atrocious runs in their songs.

and Christina Aguilera mutilating "This Christmas"

Ed's always taken liberty with his delivery and phrasing. Jeremy spoke in class today was made to sound something like 'Jeraamy spokane clahass t-dayyy'. Yellow Ledbetter needs no introduction either. He's always had a tendency to emphasise certain vowels or syllables or change words to fit the melodies. You may or may not like the way he pronounces words but to say this has crept in now is factually incorrect. This has been one of his unique attributes from day one.
You're right - he has. But, that's not what I'm saying. That sounded good. This does not. I'm not capable of actually typing out why what he does today is completely different from what he did in Jeremy or even Yellow Ledbetter. But, they are different.
Doesn't sound good to you, that's fine. To me, he sounds good. A lot of people hated PJ for the very reason that they didn't like the way he sounded on Ten. So there you go.

He's kind of inviting it, but ya I need to quit replying or getting involved. It's getting annoying.

I can't wait for that either. Can't you find a synonym for "sucks"?

First rule of RM club: shun people who think critically and state their opinions. I'm OK with this. Provides a bit of life 'round these parts.

I just think Ed's often a hypocrite. Most fanboys don't. My viewpoint is a minority in a PJ fan club setting. And that's understandable.

So is anyone looking for 'Sirens' early? If not, why not?

To be honest I fully admit that I might be missing what others are saying about these songs being average or bland, because rhythm section is what I'm most interested in, then lyrics, then everything else. Other people seem to leap on the guitars first. For most people I guess it's what goes on in the "middle" that makes a song. For me it's the bass/drums and then voice/lyrics.

I can't be the only one who tries to focus on the song as a whole

You'll still be biased as to what *makes* the song for you in the end though. We all are.

You once made a comment in the Other Bands section about a record...something like "that piece of crap is the only album by a band I like that I have ever called a piece of crap."

Given the nature of most of your comments in that section I've been operating under the assumption that, once you've hitched your ride to a band, you tend to be all in. Very, very, very, very, very rarely do you express displeasure at a new release by an artist you already like.

Sorry but that's kind of crap. I've raged about what I hate about S/T and Backspacer many times before.

But you're right, I'm an unthinking fanboy.
