They want to tow it to a hotel and put us up there for the night then send another truck with a “swap crew” to unload/load to the new truck. I want them to just haul this one to Baltimore. We’ll see. Either way, we’re staying in a hotel room tonight. Waiting for them to call back and tell me to sit here and wait some more for the tow company.

Oh, and it’s thundering and lightning now like the fucking arc is getting ready to float away.

We’ve had the oldest Weaseling’s move to Baltimore n the books for a while. So, this past week has been about getting everything ready for the move to commence this morning. So, the plan was we had a moving van booked and we were going to take her car since she would need it for work and such. The airbag light had started coming on so we took it and had it checked out and the guy was able to get the error cleared. Said it was usually due to battery issues. Ok, so I took it to Auto Zone and let them hook it up to check the battery and electrical system. Battery completely shot. Don’t know why it was starting and everything, but it was shot. Ok. Get new battery. Same day, youngest Weaseling’s car suddenly has fluid all underneath it. I pop the hood, antifreeze everywhere. Get it to the mechanic and some kind of plastic coupler underneath the car had busted. Got that fixed. Everything’s good, right?

Yesterday, oldest Weaseling’s car is DEAD. No power for anything. Won’t turn over. Nothing. Try to boost it off, nothing. So, we have it towed to the mechanic who won’t be back until Monday. Ok, she’ll take my car to Baltimore. Rental truck company calls, they don’t have the truck we reserved a month ago. Ok, what do you have? We have the next size up. Ok give us that for the same price. We’ll need more room now, anyway… ok, everything’s fine. We’re up till midnight packing and loading the truck and my car.

We leave this morning. The plan is to drive most of the way to outside Richmond and stay with friends we have there tonight then finish the last couple of hours in the morning. We get on the road a little later than we planned but when you’re dealing with Mrs Wease and oldest Weaseling, that’s just how it goes. Everything moving well. We’ve had a couple bathroom breaks, topped off the gas tank, other than sitting straight up in a non-adjustable seat for hours and hours, trip is ok. Until an hour ago. We’re about two hours from our friends’ place and all of a sudden, the truck is acting like it’s just losing power, not getting gas, something is amiss. I manage to get pulled off the road and it dies. I try to start it, and it’s acting like it wants to crank, but just won’t turn over. Like it’s not getting gas. Gauge shows 3/4 tank, so it shouldn’t be that but who knows? So, now I’m sitting here just waiting for the roadside assistance to get here 30 minutes into a 119 minute estimated wait time. And it’s hot as a motherfucker.

The hope is it will be something that can repaired and we can be on our way. I don’t know what to even think if we have to get another truck and switch everything from this one.
