Britain gave no details on the death other than the person had been diagnosed in hospital. It was not clear if the patient had been vaccinated or had underlying health issues.

Why not just come out and say “kill the unvaccinated”? No need to softball it. Say what you mean Frum.

I don't like the idea of rationing health care, but I also don't like the idea of being denied an ICU bed because some dipshit is using it to die from a preventable illness.

Does preventable illness include most diabetes, overdoses, many heart diseases, suicide attempts, abortions and many other illnesses that come from not maintaining a healthy physical and mental lifestyle?

I thought this argument was settled a long time ago when it was agreed that giving smokers healthcare was a good thing.

Are any of these groups clogging up ICUs en masse?

All of those things are require multifactorial, expensive, and on-going intervention to prevent (although, I'm not really sure that abortions belong in that group). COVID takes two 15-minute intervals and 0 dollars.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is not expensive. Unless you think going for a run/walk every day, maintaining your weight, not smoking, getting proper amounts of sleep are expensive.

You've clearly not clicked the link, but I'm glad you've been fortunate enough to not have to struggle with addiction, physical, or mental health in your life.

I'm jumping in with no prior knowledge of the discussion on here, but I spent Thanksgiving with an ICU nurse in Denver. He said this last wave is all unvacinated and to add insult to injury the families of these people are typically belligerent and living in conspiracy theories. ie. the hospital is making them sicker, the hospital refuses to give them the certain medicines that everyone "knows" will heal them, etc. These stays are often 30 days in length and the ICU has been full since early October.

Elementary Schools in the area are starting to see outbreaks despite a ~90% vax rate in the county.

People are terrible. People don’t always act in their own best interest. Society always should. A society that is concerned with “being denied an ICU bed because some dipshit” did something they don’t agree with is a sick society. Everyone is going to be wrong at times in their life. Love, compassion and leading through example seems like a nice alternative. And if you are so concerned about ICU capacity, build more.

Seems like good advice for the people berating the nurses for not giving their family the medicine they "know" will make them better.
