The Doc who is convinced that reactions to the vaccine/ pervasiveness of spike protein is worse than the disease for most?
He was emphatic that you cant get it twice. I dunno.
Yeah, I don't know what to make of it. Yes, it would be great if prophylactics worked, but we have no compelling reason to believe his go to drugs do much outside of marginal cases at best.

That said, there are stupid restrictions on stuff like remdesivir or newer drugs that do almost nothing by the time you're admitted. Why not give it as soon as people are symptomatic if they have any risk factors? We're doing weird triage where severity of the case is prioritized over if or when an intervention can be helpful.

After "95% effective" vaccine numbers, why should we hope the soon to be released therapeutics are as good as advertised? Good luck getting the masses to put more weight in "peer reviewed" vs. Whatever a guy they know said after this clusterfuck.

The worst case scenario is that he is right on the mRNA vaccines and wrong on everything else.

I claim no expertise on this. I'm just offering my hope that this variation will actually be mild and that there's light at the end of the tunnel. And if it is I think that should signal a major shift in how we calculate the risks. But since we don't know if that will actually be the case or not then people should obviously take the precautions that they believe will be helpful. I'm not blindly calling for herd immunity or something like that. It just seems based off of the data we have that there's legitimate hope that this variant may be milder. Of course people who are immunocompromised, obese, or elderly should exercise additional caution, and people who are more worried than I happen to be should also take the precautions that will help them feel comfortable. If it's as transmissible as is currently suggested, I'm not sure how much it will matter, but people and business owners should certainly be free to be as cautious as they wish.
I don't think of you an expert when I read your posts in this forum, just well-reasoned and fair. I appreciate the response.

Perhaps merely offended as an enjoyer of normal social interactions.
Thank you.

Not even offended and more bemused that two weeks turned into two years and a significant segment of the population is still scared af.
More have died from covid this year than last. I guess those two weeks didn’t quite do the trick.
We should have done nothing and this would already be over. But we’d be far less controllable, and that would be bad.
Hospitals were piling up bodies in freezer trucks. I don’t think even someone like you would’ve been okay with doing nothing.

Yeah, in NY, where they sent positive patients into nursing homes. That was a bad idea. Good thing the Governor that did that was removed for office for completely unrelated things, so we've learned from that.

Our governor dropped something like $5 mil on an old refrigerated produce warehouse, and it never saw one corpse. What a waste!

It’s pretty cool that us PJ messageboarders are gonna solve Covid and I’m honored to be a part of it.

Didn’t realize all 800k deaths were in NY.

I thought we were talking about images of freezer trucks full of bodies.

Maybe they were everywhere, but the ones that got a lot of press were in NY.

has there been a clear explanation as to the religious exemption that people keep touting?

A nice visualization for the "masks don't work," "what's the point of testing?" "vaccinated people still get sick," people in your life.
