Re: Who Ever Said

The 'home is where the broken heart is' section reminds me an 80s song I can't quite place. Maybe Love Song or Silent Runnings?

Drowning in their dissertations, random speakers in my mind
They never stop their fortifications and blocking my precious time
You used to let it go and let it float away
You don’t get to speak with twice as much to say
------ --------- Said the messenger who is now dead
Was all on the periphery. I didn’t see him but I heard what he said
Sideways talk, poison in our thoughts
Everyone walks and its no one’s fault
Who ever said ‘it’s all been said’ gave up on satisfaction
Who ever said ‘it’s all been said’ gave up on satisfaction
Who ever said ‘it’s all been said’ gave up on satisfaction
Who ever said ‘it’s all been said’ gave up on satisfaction
Who ever said ‘it’s all been said’ gave up on satisfaction
Who ever said ‘it’s all been said’ gave up on satisfaction
Home is where the broken heart is (silent runnings/love song)
Home is where every scar is
Blinking stars beneath you roam
------- and cradle to grave
All the answers will be found in the mistakes that we have made
One bad ear and one eye blind
It takes----- but don’t’ take mine
Leaning forward in a backwards town
I feed on dreams just to watch them drown
Swallow my pencil and bleed out my pen
Surrender the wish we’ll be together again
But I wont’ give up, no I won’t give up
On satisfaction
On satisfaction
Give up on satisfaction
Pull myself aside on a sleepless night
Sadness ---- I’m in need of a light
Out of balance balance balance this time
I’m feeling faint and calling as I’m falling out of sight
As the silence gets louder my heart gets pounding
The ventricle’s pumping working overtime
My freedom’s fraught with danger, being circumscribed
A life cut short and circumcised

that outro needed to go round one more time, but it is very Present Tense, so maybe they just thought "we've already done that"Fattie_Vedder wrote:Confession: I haven’t read the posts about this as I’m jumping into it late.
First listen, I really liked this. 3rd listen: I love it. Love how it shifts and changes unexpectedly. Love the breakdown in the middle, love how Eddie painfully sings “all the answers will be found in the mistakes we have made”; beautiful lyric.
Love the very (assuming) Gossard notes right before and after Mike’s solo. How it switches from somber and reflective to upbeat and energetic seamlessly.
That fucking 5 second outro. Why couldn’t that be a longer jam?!? Fucking love that thing.
Yeah I can def see that. I’m torn about it because it’s just kind of quirky and cool to just say ‘fuck it’ and end the song like that. But It was so freakin rad though, hooked me right away, I just wanted more. Kinda reminded me of the end of Habit too.Ms Harmless wrote:that outro needed to go round one more time, but it is very Present Tense, so maybe they just thought "we've already done that"Fattie_Vedder wrote:Confession: I haven’t read the posts about this as I’m jumping into it late.

Nice work - this feels right with the one change I noted.LawrenceOrbach wrote:Drowning in their dissertations

Yeah, they never stop their fortifications
And blocking my precious time
You used to let it go and let it float away
You don’t get to speak with twice as much to say
It’s all in the delivery
Said the messenger who is now dead
Was all on the periphery
I didn’t see him but I heard what he said
Aw sideways talk poisoning our thoughts
Everyone walks and it’s no one’s fault
Whoever said it’s all been said
Gave up on satisfaction
Home is where the broken heart is
Home is where every scar is
Blinking stars, beneath you roam
Room to tomb and cradle to grave
All the answers will be found
In the mistakes that we have made
One bad ear and one eye blind
It takes a village but don’t take mine
Living forward in a backwards town
I feed ‘em drinks just to watch ‘em drown
Swallow my pencil and bleed out my pen
Surrender the wish we’ll be together again
But I won’t give up
No I won’t give up on satisfaction.. satisfaction
Pull myself aside on a sleepless night
Sadness blurs, I’m in need of a light
Out of balance, balance, balance this time
I’m feeling fading calling as I’m falling out of sight
As the silence gets louder my heart gets pounding
And ventricles pumping, working overtime
Our freedoms fraught with danger being circumscribed
A life cut short and circumcised
A rubble of commandments from the road, step aside
A rumble of commandments in the road, step aside
Whoever said it’s all been said
Gave up on satisfaction

oddly enough, this is where ol' Brendan may have been good.theplatypus wrote:I think this song and "Superblood Wolfmoon" really needed some editing. It feels rambling and incoherent at points. There are good parts there but you gotta dig through a lot to find them.
