Vindicator wrote:I really want to point out that last 20 seconds or so of this song. It goes out on such a great beautiful outro that could have been a bridge elsewhere in the song. "So I say to them, never say goodbye" That part sounds like a classic Pearl Jam section. The rest of the song sounds like a Who cover basically, but it is pretty fun. I wish it had been given a rougher edge guitar wise like Whipping or something, but it is what it is. That outro is gold though.
one of the reasons I used to love this band so much is that they had no idea how to structure songs, they would just put these wonderful parts together and ask us to enjoy the ride - and up until Riot Act, I always did; this album has several "pieced together" songs again, like always, but that patchwork approach is once again sounding kind of exciting, and imo lifting songs that might otherwise be more plain old rock songs to greater heights; "7 O'Clock" seems like a song where the whole band and Josh deliberately created a patchwork song, and I'm so glad of it

There are some really nice things happening in this song starting around the 2:15 mark through the 3:00 mark.

This song sums up my thoughts on a lot of the album. If I don't like one part of the song, I LOVE another part of it. And after more listens I start to like the parts I didn't as much and still love the parts I love.

I haven't had this much fun listening to an album in a long time. Any album.

I think this is an underrated or at least little-talked about dynamic of the band. In some weird way, these two really do alright complementing each other.

The whole band started with the two of them playing together.

Yes! This is a good take. So many turns in this album, making it so fun and easier to let things grow on you.

This doesn't seem like one of the popular songs for many, but over the last few days this one has turned in to one of my favorites.

This is exactly what I was thinking the other day as well..on various songs throughout the album, some parts that I wasn’t initially feeling, come to life after a few spins.

Still digesting this one...my least favourite so far, but still decent / growing on me.

I liked it, almost loved it, on first listen. Better every subsequent time through, and has been more fun and more awesome. And every song is growing just as you described. So fun.

I love the transition from Seven O'Clock into this. I think this song is perfect where it is.

Only song I hate on this album. I just can't see what the appeal is for this song... or this type of songs in general. Ed's phrasing/intonation is so.... hmm embarrassing? Not that it's badly done, it's just that it sounds.... lame.

Same goes for Johnny Guitar, they both suffer from that vocal delivery that I absolutely hate from Eddie.

Glad to see many of you like this one, though. 2 stars for me cause there's some interesting things going on in the music.

this has a ramshackle feel and openness to it that makes me like it a lot more than other... spritzy punkers of the past. it has a bit of swagger.

Yep, it's the best.

I really love the lyrics near the outro. Those are the ones that are a nod to Tom Petty, yeah?
