Thinking about buying extra storage. But as far I understand, those that are supported can only store PS4 games. Means it will be great now, but could lead to new storage problems with PS5 games in the future.
You can use an external hard drive to store PS4 and PS5 games now. Only PS4 games can be be played from the external, however.
Wish it was possible for both, but will look at an ehd. Was wonderful getting a large one for the Xbox One X three years ago, never had to worry about having enough free space for a game again.
I'm not sure they will change their stance because of the reliance on the SSD for PS5 games. The transfer process isn't too bad. I have a 4 TB external that has 100+ PS4 games and playing straight from that isn't bad at all.
I’ll probably do that as well. Though I do see there are som ssd’s use can use as well.

Yeah that is fun. Kind of gets repetitive though. Do you have it on performance mode?

I don’t know. I just put it on.

Performance mode in the game option menu. It’s way smoother.

I think there's a Performance RT (ray tracing) mode now too. I'd go with that.

Tried it now. Looks even better.

Great! In the system settings of the console you can adjust your preferred visual setting. It will set most games with options to that setting (ex. performance vs. fidelity). Not sure how Xbox handles it.

Finally got the HDD, and set all uninstalled games to install. Now got 52 games all in all. Hopefully it will all work well.

Nice, I just received the 5TB Seagate Firecuda game drive for my PS5. I have all of my PS4 games on there now and most of the PS5 games (in case I want to transfer them back to the Internal. Working out well so far and loads of space now to free up the (very small) M.2. SSD.

An extra ssd sounds sweet and overall better. But the hdd seemed fine, cheaper and easier at this time, so went for that. Might need an ssd in the future.

How many games do you play at once?

Tricky question to answer. I often play games that I can jump into at any time, like Halo online, FIFA 22 online, Pinball FX3, short games of CIV 6, a driving game. On the PS5 so far I’ve played Spiderman: Miles Morales, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Civ 6, Pinball FX3, Star Wars: Battlefront II, FIFA 22, Let’s Sing (with my wife), and Astro’s Playroom. Been looking forward to trying a few more, as well as playing some Gran Turismo and Destiny 2. But the PS5 filled up really fast. The HDD is taking time. Three more games to download now.
Also like having games available when I feel like it, instead of thinking ahead of time that I’ll play a game, and then download it for a specific period time, only to then delete it.

Also have Horizon: Zero Dawn, Bloodborne, God Of War, Spider-Man, Fortnite, Among Us, Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, Battlefield 1 and V, Call Of Duty (three different), Crash Racing, Final Fantasy VII, Five Night At Freddy’s, Godfall, Lego DC Super Villains, Mahjong, Uno, Monopoly, Monster Hunter, Mortal Kombat 11, Mortal Shell, NFS Heat, Persona 5, PGA 2K21, Ratchet & Clank (ps4 version), Resogun, Rocket League, Shadow Of The Colossus, Sound Shapes, SW Battlefront 1, Jedi: Fallen Order, SW Rogue Squadron, Streetfighter V, Tekken 7, The Last Of Us, Tetraminos, Brickbreaker, two (or three?) Uncharted games, Yie Ar Kung-Fu, UNO, WRC 6 (old but was just too cheap), Until You Fall and Ghost Of Tsushima. Including most of the free games, there are about 15 I already own on Xbox, but plan on the PS5 being my main machine going forward, and barely playing the Xbox. Not the most expensive games though, mostly free or cheap. Although Pinball FX3 and FIFA 22 cost quite a bit.

All games done downloading now. Got 3tb unused storage on the HDD, so that’s plenty. Less than 200gb left on the machine storage with the PS5 games, so wil probably have to move PS5 games to the HDD in the future, even if you can’t play PS5 games from there.
Now look forward to playing them all over time.

The big change fans should expect this year, among maybe another surprise or two, is the launch of Spartacus. Reportedly, Sony is working on a competitor to Game Pass that folds PS Plus and PS Now together, removing the branding of the latter. This is said to be broken down into three tiers, with each costing more than the last:
Tier 1: The benefits of PS Plus and online multiplayer
Tier 2: Streaming via PS Now, plus tier 1 benefits.
Tier 3: Access to classic games from the PS1, PS2, and PS3 gens, as well as extended demos, plus tier 1 and tier 2 benefits.

Finally got through trying all my games today. although there are several I’ve just barely played yet. Can confirm though, that the PS5 has been a big success so far. Been playing at every opportunity. Really pleased with the controllers, the menus, the speed,
Do want the new Gran Turismo game, and will download the monthly free games, but plan on mostly focusing on the games I’ve got for a while.
