i havent been excited by a new pearl jam song since the first time i heard 'severed hand'. and the excitement hasnt worn off, its still one of my favorite songs to hear live. the lyrics are also the best ive seen about tripping. really accurate.

I like about half the record, haven't listened in years. Always thought Army Reserve was pretty good, Unemployable too.

I have really warmed to ST over the last few years. It is probably the most played studio album of theirs nowadays and it's got a strong 1-8. Then it's a turdfest. Except ArmyRes which is great (well really bloody good).

There's half-to-two-thirds of a really strong album on there. I really love Comatose, Unemployable, Parachutes, Big Wave and Army Reserve and I'm quite fond of Severed Hand and Gone.

It's okay. Like Life Wasted and Inside Job, it's tolerable (and was pretty good live back in 2006.)

The only true misfires on the album for my money are World Wide Suicide and Come Back.

Yeah, add Marker and remove Comatose and Big Wave and you've got yourself a deal. (I'd probably include Inside Job too, but that's clearly just me).

WWS is another PJ song that suffers because of a lackluster chorus that doesn't live up to the rest of the song, which is pretty great.

I like "Come Back" quite a bit--I wish the band had deeper R&B roots, because there's a tune in there that's a lot better than you'd gather from its heavy-handed rock ballad arrangement. I try not to play this game very often, but this is one of those songs I'd really love to hear the "No Code" version of the band take a crack at, with some richer guitar tones and with Jack on the drums.

For me "Gone" and "Inside Job" are the only real stinkers on "S/T."

i dont like Marker ( should have such a good song) and gone...The others are from great to good.
But yeah, the production is pretty bad....Still i love this album.

I really like WWS, aside from finding the lyrics too wordy. That riff during the pre-chorus is groovy as hell.

I really like S/T.

I've never seen why people dislike Inside Job, I really like it. The same with Big Wave. Parachutes is beautiful, Come Back stirs me as much as nearly any other PJ song. Marker is another favourite. The only song I ever found boring was Gone but even that's grown on me.

I really hope one day someone can do something about the production we can lose that stigma.

I disagree. The sound and production were terrible, the worst of all of their albums. Yield and No Code perfectly captured their true live sound, and sounded beautiful - ear-boner if you please.

I couldn't agree more with this statement.....except the ear boner thing...not sure I ever had one....maybe once, and I think I was sleeping and had the radio on.

S/T just hasn't stood up for me, and mainly, it's cause of the production, and I think eddie sounds blown out at times. Can't stand his vocals on Comatose...unless he was actually going for that "punch me in the stomach while I smoke my 27th cigarette of the day right before I lay down this vocal in one take" feel.

If you've had an ear-boner, you'd know it. Oh yeah, you would definitely know it.
