Heard this on a hike today and got the biggest smile. Such a wonderful song.

Being boring. It doesn’t go anywhere. It’s stagnant and uninteresting.Kevin Davis wrote:What's the one trick?PHATJ wrote:This song is a boring, one trick pony.

I don't relate to this criticism of music in general (I listen to plenty of music that just lingers in the same space for far longer than this extremely short song), but even putting that aside, I'd offer that song dynamics, i.e. assembling distinct verses, choruses, bridges, etc., in a coherent manner, hasn't really been one of this band's strengths for some time. There are so many songs on the last three records that have verses and choruses that just don't feel like they go together at all, or choruses that completely let down the potential of an otherwise good song, that I'm inclined to see the kind of "stagnation" this song practices as an instance of the band (possibly inadvertently) playing to its current strengths.PHATJ wrote:It doesn’t go anywhere.

This song is a huge breath of fresh air to me. It has an organic effortlessness seldom seen since Riot Act.
I find this one incredibly boring. Nothing about it does much of anything for me. Parachutes seems to be the closest comparison in vibe, and I like that song 100x more.Ms Harmless wrote:all of this, yesKevin Davis wrote:I don't relate to this criticism of music in general (I listen to plenty of music that just lingers in the same space for far longer than this extremely short song), but even putting that aside, I'd offer that song dynamics, i.e. assembling distinct verses, choruses, bridges, etc., in a coherent manner, hasn't really been one of this band's strengths for some time.
