listen to the chile version from this year. Its pretty aggressive.
Ooh OK, will do.
Also, provide some examples of them playing Animal and Blood with clean guitars.

Perhaps I need to clarify 'clean'. As in not as aggressively distorted as on the album version, or the Dave A. period of the band. This goes for several songs, including Animal, Blood, you name it. These songs don't sound anywhere near as nasty live.

I like Adam Kasper. In my opinion the way ST was produced, was a band's decision with commercial purpose, we all remember the characterizations as the Pearl Jam come back etc, so in that case Adam Kasper served this purpose, the same way he served the Riot Act purpose. Also he did Soundgarden's King Animal which I find very good.
Its a rolling stone interview. They are just interested in getting some PJ news and dirt. Even if he did discuss anything interesting about producing, it would probably be cut out.
Well they did specifically ask about the sound of the album, he replied like he had no idea

Yeah, that was strange. I would have said "didn't you produce the album?"

It tells me he has a very limited vocabulary in terms of music, which is kind of worrying.

You'd think he'd be the best person to describe what they were going for sonically, "you tell me" is neither here or there, the interviewer hasn't heard it!

Idk he seemed unsure of everything, 'Idk what it sounds like really' ' I guess there's some longer songs' ' Idk why the band disappeared for a year and a half' ( I think he sounded a little annoyed at them there actually, but I might just be fishing for drama lol)

*I fully realise that had he come out saying 'we were going for this or that' there would have been a lot of 'we? He thinks he's in the baaannnddddhvdfhdryg'

The best thing about that interview was the answer about Aerosmith. Drama!

That´s true. But i think they have more of the old sound this year...still it doesnt sound anywhere near like, lets say..1995.

You're right, they have very recently gone back to an attempt at a more abrasive live sound. I'm pleased about that.

Stone Gossard told him that. Finally he is taking his revenge on Boom. Genius!

I'm not reading too much into BOB's comments because he specifically stated multiple times that he would leave it up to the band to talk about the songs. In fact, I'm actually surprised to see that he managed to share a few song titles. Even that was more revealing than I expected to get from him.

On a side note, would this thread even exist if everyone was happier with the songs PJ has WRITTEN of late? It sounds to me like the band is doing exactly what they want for the time being. I'm highly skeptical of how much influence over the new sound that BOB actually had. PJ made it pretty clear with S/T that they were trying to change their sound up a bit and go for something a little more "poppy", or however you want to describe it. Considering that S/T predated BOB, and that in some way Backspacer feels like a natural extension on this new path that was begun back in 2006, I'm not quite sure how BOB can be attributed with the latest product?

Probably not. But its fun to bitch and there's nothing else to talk about. All the bitching about the band being useless and lazy is in the general pj bitching thread, gotta spread that shit out.

Yeah, this is the BOB thread. Doesn't mean there's no one else to blame.

Every album since Vitalogy has sounded like what Eddie wanted it to sound like first and foremost...

Followed by a descending degree of input from
1. Producer
2. Mike / Jeff / Matt, etc.

3. Stone
