They used all manner of horseshit on the drums, and quite possibly digital amps on the guitars.
I don’t think they used guitars. And I’m pretty sure Matt used his V-drums.

In retrospect, it feels like the Gigaton era was a sliding doors moment for the band.

They made a surprisingly very good record (that also sounded great) and were due to start a tour focusing on that material. Of course, the tour was scrapped due to the pandemic.

By the time the band got back on the road, they'd invited Klinghoffer to join the touring party and had already half-finished what would become their next album with Wotman. It was already a new (worse) era.

I think I recently said it had three four star songs, which I meant as a huge compliment.

Ok, they didn't promote Gigaton a whole lot. No interviews, not a lot of press, no TV performances and not even a Netflix special :haha:.
But okay, Covid got in its way.

Flash forward to 2024. They release their best (according to fans) record in years and..... that's it. Their worst selling record of all time, by far! . Two interviews and a podcast? Again not a lot of interviews in Magazines, no TV performances, not many physical releases of singles (with b-sides that generate some buzz), no promotional videos, only a handful shows in Europe, as of now only one leg of touring is planned for 2025.

Whenever the Peppers, FF, Qotsa, Green Day or Metallica has a new record out everybody seems to know. They actually promote their shit.
