I've never been a bro. I don't know what it means to be a bro, I just know that I fucking hate bros.

I was introduced to the phrase 'first world problems' last year. It really helps me understand a lot of what happens in these threads.

I guess this makes sense. Your initial response to that awesome Batman San Francisco thing for the kid with cancer was that it was just a way for people without cancer to feel good about themselves. So it stands to reason that one obnoxious drunken rant over a 20+ year career negates a life of supporting woman's issues.

It doesn't negate a life of supporting women's issues. But for me, it does throw their sincerity into question, as do a lot of anger fits that Ed's been responsible for.

As for the cancer thing, I didn't say it was *just* that. What I started with was that I was happy that it had happened, for the kids' sake. I'm just aware of what the media ultimately makes of these things. People with various disabilities and diseases are made archetypes for the betterment of the lives of able people. It was always thus, and it's fine. But, you know, context. I have a lot of it to go on.

Stip, "first world problems" was one of those terribly hacky things that fundamentally unfunny people obsessed over for a period of a few months before they gasped in horror at the blandness of their existence. Like Bitstrips, or the show How I Met Your Mother.

A few years ago I used that term at work and the most insufferable person in the newsroom thought it was the funniest thing ever. It was then I knew what I had done.

I have to spend all day reading and talking about all the ways our society is collapsing, so it was a great phrase for me to put the stupid shit people whine about into context.

I probably would have it if I was there when it was everywhere.
